Seattle, specifically Pike Place Market, is filled with so many shops and restaurants it’s hard to get a taste of them all in one visit. The best way to do this is to have a little food tour. There are so many tours to go on, but why not just pick some spots you’ll love for yourself!

Food tours can be expensive, so I made it my mission to keep this tour as cheap as possible while still trying out as much as my stomach would allow! You’ll never guess the total of my entire food tour day… I couldn’t even believe it myself.

Alaskan Sourdough

We’re going to start outside of Pike Place. About a 10-minute walk from Pike Place is the Seattle Aquarium, and right near the aquarium is Alaskan Sourdough. This place wasn’t even on my radar, but how can you pass up sourdough?! Alaskan Sourdough offers more than just sourdough bread, although I recommend getting yourself a sourdough roll while you’re there. You can get anything you’d think of from a bakery, and they even have a grill if you’re in the mood for something hot.

Total spent: $1.50

Bottega Italiana

We’re never passing up the opportunity for gelato. Ever. Bottega Italiana offers a unique, refreshing taste compared to the rest of the stops along our self-guided tour. Their gelato is fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. They offer vegan options for any non-dairy friends out there, so you can enjoy this stop too! I recommend trying the cantaloupe vegan gelato!

Total spent: $4.00

Daily Dozen

We’re adventuring into the heart of Pike Place for this one. Daily Dozen makes mini donuts fresh for your enjoyment! You can watch the donuts being made while you wait to order your own batch! There are a few donut options for you to try.

I recommend the mini cinnamon donuts. They are so soft and tasty with the perfect amount of cinnamon sprinkled on. I got a half dozen because I needed to save room for the rest of the day, but I easily could have eaten 12 of these babies!

Total spent: $5.50

Beecher’s Cheese

No trip to Seattle is complete without a trip to Beecher’s Cheese. I learned about Beecher’s from a fellow travel blogger when I told her I was planning a trip to Seattle. She insisted I try the Beecher’s grilled cheese, so that is exactly what I did!

The line at Beecher’s is long. I am warning you now BUT it is worth it, I promise. On the plus side, you can watch them make the cheese in a giant vat while you wait! I never realized how much work went into making cheese, but I’m thankful there are people who do it because I am a cheeseoholic.

The grilled cheese is served on thin, crunchy bread. It’s a bit messy to eat, but aren’t all the best foods the messiest foods? My friend, Cara, got the “World’s Best” mac n cheese, and I had to have a little taste. It was creamy and flavorful. If we weren’t doing a food tour and just stopped there for lunch, I definitely would have waited in line again just to have my own bowl of that mac.

Total spent: $10.00 (just the grilled cheese)

Rachel’s Ginger Beer

You’re going to need something to wash down all that cheese! Across the street from Beecher’s, and up the hill a bit, you’ll see Rachel’s Ginger Beer. Here you can find two things: (1) some seating while you enjoy your lunch and (2) all types of ginger beer for you to try!

Rachel’s Ginger Beer offers more than just soda; you can get cocktails and frozen cocktails too! Who doesn’t love that option for a midday pick-me-up! I went with an original ginger beer because I felt like I had to in a place literally called Rachel’s GINGER BEER.

Total spent: $8.00

Godanko Chocolate

Even though we’ve been indulging all day already, we have to end our food tour with a dessert. If you walk down Post Alley (in the opposite direction of the gum wall), you’ll come across Godanko Chocolate. This is the place for my chocolate lovers.

They had a million specialty chocolates and truffles to choose from, but I am a sucker for fudge, so I went with the fudge. Rocky Road is the ultimate fudge choice in my opinion, and boy was it DELISH. If you don’t stop at Godanko, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Total spent: $5.75

Total Spent for the Day: $35.00

This of course is a rounded number and does not include all tips, because some were in cash and I just don’t remember my cash flows.

I hope you are full with all the delights Seattle has to offer! Even better, for a grand total under $50.00!!!  Bon appetite! xx
