Searching for that perfect Salem itinerary? Look no further, I have you covered!

We visited Salem for just one day in October 2024, and it was such a perfect day there, even though the weather was not on our side. It’s hard not to fall in love with Salem. It is charming and full of magic.

This itinerary is perfect if you are staying in Boston and need to squeeze in as much Salem as you can in one day.

7:30 AM – Take the train from Boston to Salem

The train ride is approximately 30 minutes and lands you just a 5-minute walk to Downtown Salem.

8:00 AM – Breakfast at The Ugly Mug

The Ugly Mug is first-come, first-serve, so jump on line ASAP!

9:00 AM – Photo with Bewitched Sculpture

9:15 AM – Wander on Essex Street 

This is where most of the shops and tourist spots are. There is so much to see on Essex, you could probably spend the whole day just walking up and down it!

Some stops to make include (1)Old Town Hall (2) the iconic Witch House (3) Ropes Mansion, aka Allison’s House from Hocus Pocus.

10:00 AM – Coffee at Front Street Coffeehouse 

10:30 AM – Wander around Salem Common

You can use this time to go to the Salem Witch Museum – tickets sell out QUICK. We unfortunately missed out during this trip, but we will definitely get there next time!

11:00 AM – Walk to Pioneer Village

This walk is approximately 1 mile or about a 20 minute walk. Along the way you can make a pitstop at a special Hocus Pocus filming location: Max & Dani’s House!

1:00 PM – Shop along Essex

Shopping is a must in Salem! All of the witchy shops will leave you enchanted.

3:00 PM – Take a Salem History Tour

Dive into the Secrets of Salem with this incredible tour!

4:00 PM – Late Lunch / Early Dinner at The Ledger

6:00 PM – Halloween Museum

A fun, festive way to take in a little bit more of Salem before you head home.

7:30 PM – Train back to Boston
