Going on vacation can completely throw you off of your rhythm and daily routine. I know it can for me. In the past year, I have made my mental and physical health my #1 priority and I have no intention of changing that as I travel and as we march into 2022.

Being healthy does not have to ruin your vacation and your vacation does not have to ruin your healthy lifestyle.

Here are seven healthy habits that you can take on the road with you!

Yoga & Meditation

Stay active even on your off days. Yoga provides you with your daily movement and lets you clear your head space. Yoga is a great way to help you wake up in the morning or calm down before bed. Meditation is also the perfect way to relax before bed and get you prepped for your adventures the next day.

Stay Hydrated

This may seem obvious, but we definitely do not drink enough water when we are on vacation. Hell, I bet most of us don’t drink enough water in our daily lives to begin with. Staying hydrated on vacation will help keep your energy up and keep you feeling great!

Stretch

Trust me your body wants this. A good stretch when you wake up in the morning will not only help wake you up for the day, but will send you into the day feeling limber and ready for your jam-packed itinerary.

Have Breakfast

A hearty breakfast can really make your entire day. If you have a long list of adventures planned, you’re going to need your energy. Skip the sugary, “quick” breakfast foods such as the cereals and have a healthy bite before taking on the day! Besides, you’re going to want to save your calories for your vacation meals and drinks later in the day!

Walk/Take the Stairs

Although a vacation is a time to relax it is also a great time to get those steps in. Take the stairs over the elevator. Walk instead of calling for a rideshare. Enjoy every single step of your adventure and make the most of your time out of town.

Get Your Zzz’s

A good night’s sleep is not only good for your mental and physical health but it is also great for your itinerary! With a full 8 hours sleep, you can enjoy more activities on your trip itinerary. Even with a jam-packed itinerary, a vacation is meant to be somewhat relaxing, and you cannot be more relaxed than when you are asleep!

Journal

Empty your brain! Before you go to sleep, grab a pen and journal what happened throughout the day. It’s a win-win. You get to have all of your day’s memories written down and you don’t hold onto anything that might be clouding your thoughts.
